In this region you will also see the sites of various cultures.  The eastern border of the spreading of the reformation is, at the same time, the eastern border of historic Hungary; this is why the religious legacy of the reformed church is of special importance concerning the exploration of the spreading of the reformation in Hungary. After the council of Debrecen in 1567 the region east of the Theiß developed into a bastion of the Hungarian reformation. In its 450 year history, not only literary but also architectural masterworks were created, most of which, however, remain largely unknown to the general population. Therefore the typical churches in the small villages along the plum-road – each of them with their special features – are always a surprise to the visitor. They still play an important social role in the life of the villagers. So – get on the way, the Szatmar-Bereg region always welcomes you with pleasure!
